Overview
Akuma Kun follows Ichiro Umoregi, a young man raised by a demon, who now works as a paranormal investigator in modern Tokyo. Alongside his half-human partner Mephisto III, he takes on cases where restless spirits, curses and old grudges spill into everyday life, solving murders and mysteries that ordinary detectives cannot explain.
What gives the series its pull is the odd-couple partnership at its heart: the calm, sharp-eyed Akuma Kun and the flamboyant, centuries-old Mephisto III, backed by a cast that includes Sanae and Mio Kazama. Based on the classic manga by Shigeru Mizuki, the 2023 Netflix series mixes occult horror, dark comedy and detective work, with each case peeling back another layer of its supernatural world.
