Overview
Hoops is a 2020 adult animated comedy from Netflix that follows Ben Hopkins, a hot-headed high-school basketball coach at Lenwood High whose foul mouth and short temper are matched only by his oversized dream of coaching in the big leagues. Convinced he belongs on a much bigger stage, he throws everything he has into turning around a hopeless team that seems determined to stay hopeless.
Voiced by Jake Johnson, Ben is surrounded by a cast of misfits, from his players and his ex-wife Shannon to his rival father Barry and the school’s long-suffering principal Opal, and every attempt to win on the court somehow spirals into chaos off it. Created by Ben Hoffman, the series leans into raunchy, no-holds-barred humor, so it is very much a show for grown-ups rather than family viewing.
