TRON: Uprising

Overview

TRON: Uprising is an American animated series set inside the computer world of the Grid, in the gap between the films Tron and Tron: Legacy. In the city of Argon, a young program named Beck works a humble job in Able’s garage, fixing vehicles while dreaming of something bigger. When General Tesler’s forces tighten their grip on Argon on behalf of Clu, Beck’s ordinary life is shattered — and he is drawn into a secret double life as a masked hero.

Beck takes up the mantle of Tron, the legendary warrior who once stood against tyranny on the Grid. Guided in secret by Tron himself, Beck learns to fight, to outwit Tesler’s soldiers, and to inspire the programs around him — all while keeping his identity hidden from his closest friends, Mara and Zed. The series mixes sleek light-cycle action with a story about courage, sacrifice, and what it costs to stand up when everyone else is afraid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TRON: Uprising an anime or a cartoon?

It is an American animated series made for Disney XD, so it sits in the cartoon category — but its stylish computer-world visuals and serialized story give it plenty of appeal for anime fans too.

Where does TRON: Uprising fit in the Tron story?

The series takes place between the events of Tron and Tron: Legacy. You do not need to know every detail of the films to follow Beck’s story, but knowing who Tron and Clu are makes the conflict land much harder.

Should I watch ‘Beck’s Beginning’ first?

Yes, if you can. The prelude special introduces Beck, Argon City, and the arrival of Tesler’s forces, setting up everything the main season builds on.

Why did TRON: Uprising only run for one season?

The show ended after its single season in 2013, so some story threads were left open. Even so, its 18 episodes tell a complete-feeling arc about Beck growing from an ordinary program into a symbol of resistance.
