Overview

Years after the defeat of Majin Buu, Earth is finally at peace – until Beerus, the God of Destruction, wakes from a long slumber and sets out to find the Super Saiyan God from his prophetic dream. His search leads him to Goku and the Z fighters, and what begins as a celebration at Bulma’s birthday party soon becomes a confrontation on a scale Earth has never faced.

Battle of Gods matters because it reopened the Dragon Ball story after years away and introduced Beerus and his attendant Whis, two characters who would reshape everything that followed. The film balances huge, colorful battles with the series’ trademark humor, and its ending leaves the door open for more – a big reason it remains a favorite entry point into modern Dragon Ball.
