Overview
A Couple of Cuckoos is a 2022 romantic comedy anime built on a mix-up at birth. Sixteen-year-old Nagi Umino, a top student at Megurogawa Academy, was switched with another baby at birth, and on the day he is finally set to meet his birth parents, he runs into the bold, outspoken Erika Amano, who asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend so she can avoid an arranged marriage.
The plan collapses in the best possible way for comedy: Nagi’s parents reveal they have decided to settle the hospital switch by having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised, who turns out to be Erika herself. Across two seasons and 36 episodes, the series follows Nagi and Erika as they live under the same roof, juggle school life and a growing love triangle with Hiro Segawa and Sachi Umino, and slowly untangle what they really feel. Kaito Ishikawa voices Nagi and Akari Kito voices Erika in this manga-based romcom.
