Overview
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance is the second film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series, and it picks up Shinji Ikari’s story as the battle against the Angels grows more intense. With new pilots arriving at NERV and the stakes rising around Tokyo-3, Shinji is pushed to understand not only his Evangelion, but also the people fighting beside him.
Directed by Hideaki Anno with Kazuya Tsurumaki and Masayuki, the film pairs large-scale mecha action with quiet, personal moments between its young pilots. Its closing stretch changes the direction of the story in a major way, making it an essential chapter for anyone following the Rebuild films.
