Overview

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo is the third film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series, and it takes a bold leap forward, dropping Shinji Ikari into a world that has changed drastically in his absence. Fourteen years have passed, old allies have become wary of him, and the organisation he once fought for is no longer the one he remembers.

Directed by Hideaki Anno with Masayuki, Mahiro Maeda and Kazuya Tsurumaki, the film leans into mystery and tension, revealing its new status quo gradually while building toward large-scale Evangelion action. It is the most divisive Rebuild chapter, and also the one that sets up the finale most directly.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the world feel so different in this film? A long time jump means relationships, allegiances and technology have all shifted, which is deliberately disorienting for both Shinji and the audience.

Is this film connected to the original Evangelion series? It continues the Rebuild storyline rather than the original series, with its own timeline and developments.

How long is Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo? The film runs for 1 hour and 36 minutes.
