Overview
My Oni Girl is a warm, gentle fantasy about a boy who finds it almost impossible to say no. Hiiragi Yatsuse has spent his school life going along with everyone else’s wishes, even when it leaves him unhappy. Everything changes when he meets Tsumugi, a headstrong oni girl on a determined search for her mother, and she sweeps him into a journey that is part road trip, part quiet lesson in standing up for himself.
Directed by Tomotaka Shibayama, the film keeps its focus on small, honest feelings rather than big battles. Snow, summer festivals and a slowly growing friendship give the story its shape, and the ending lands because Hiiragi finally learns to speak his own mind. It is an easy, heartfelt watch for viewers who like character-led anime films.
