Overview
Altered Carbon: Resleeved is a 2020 anime film set in the same world as the Altered Carbon series, where human minds can be transferred between bodies, known as “sleeves.” On the planet Latimer, the seasoned soldier Takeshi Kovacs takes on a job protecting Holly Togram, a young tattoo artist, and soon finds himself pulled into a violent investigation into the death of a yakuza boss.
Directed by Takeru Nakajima and Yoshiyuki Okada, the film pairs sleek cyberpunk action with a noir-tinged mystery, as Kovacs uncovers loyalties and secrets that reach far beyond a single murder. It works as a self-contained story, so viewers do not need to have seen the live-action series to follow its central case, though fans will recognize the world it expands.
