Overview
Summer Time Rendering follows Shinpei Ajiro, a young man who returns to the remote island of Hitogashima after years away in Tokyo to attend the funeral of his childhood friend, Ushio Kofune. Her death is ruled an accident, but Shinpei soon notices that something is deeply wrong on the island: shadowy doubles of the residents, known as Shadows, are moving among the living, and the people around him seem to know more than they admit.
When Shinpei himself is killed, he wakes up back on the ferry to the island, days earlier, with his memories intact. Trapped in a time loop, he uses each reset to learn the Shadows’ rules, protect Ushio’s younger sister Mio and his old friends, and untangle the island’s long-buried secrets before the cycle runs out. Based on Yasuki Tanaka’s manga, the series ran for 25 episodes across two cours in 2022.
