Overview
Yaiba Kurogane is a wild, jungle-raised boy with one burning ambition: to become the greatest samurai in Japan. Trained since childhood by his father alongside a tiger companion, Yaiba arrives in the city with more energy than manners and a sword style that owes nothing to any dojo. His path collides with Takeshi Onimaru, a proud young rival whose own quest for power soon takes a dark turn, setting up a rivalry that drives the whole series.
Produced by WIT Studio and based on Gosho Aoyama’s classic manga, YAIBA: Samurai Legend is a fresh remake of the 1993 anime. The 2025 version keeps the original’s slapstick spirit and shounen heart while giving the action a modern, fluid look, with legendary swords, ancient orbs and demon foes piling up as Yaiba chases the power of the Thunder God.
Along the way Yaiba finds an unlikely home with Sayaka Mine and her family, spars with the legendary swordsman Musashi Miyamoto, and faces a parade of colourful villains, from the scheming Mr. Spider to the resurrected Kojiro Sasaki. It is a loud, funny and relentlessly upbeat adventure that works just as well for newcomers as it does for fans of the original manga.
