Overview

Akira Tendo is 24 years old and already burned out. His job at an exploitative production company eats his days, his nights and his weekends, until one morning he wakes up to a full-blown zombie outbreak sweeping the city. Strangely, it is the best thing that has ever happened to him. With no office to report to and no boss to fear, Akira feels free for the first time in years, and he decides to spend whatever life he has left properly. He writes a bucket list of 100 things he wants to do before he becomes a zombie, and sets out to tick them off, one chaotic adventure at a time.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead turns the zombie apocalypse into a story about reclaiming your life. Akira’s list is gloriously ordinary in places, from drinking beer on a rooftop to travelling across Japan, and wildly reckless in others, like facing down a shark-infested aquarium. Along the way he reunites with his best friend Kencho and meets Shizuka, a level-headed survivor who keeps the group’s wilder impulses in check. The horror is real, with blood, gore and genuinely tense escapes, but the show’s heart is its comedy and its refusal to be bleak. It asks a simple question: if the world ended tomorrow, what would you finally do today?
