ReLIFE

Overview

ReLIFE (2016) is a Japanese animated series based on the manga of the same name. It follows Arata Kaizaki, a 27-year-old who quit his first job just three months after graduation and has been drifting ever since. At rock bottom, he is approached by Ryou Yoake of the mysterious ReLife Research Institute, who offers him a year-long experiment: a pill that makes him look 17 again, so he can return to high school and rediscover what went wrong with his life.

Back in class as a supposed teenager, Arata befriends the quiet, guarded Chizuru Hishiro and a lively group of classmates, and his second shot at youth turns into a warm, funny and bittersweet story about friendship, regret and second chances. The series blends slice-of-life school comedy with a science-fiction premise and a slow-burn romance, all built around one question: if you could relive your youth, would you do it differently?
