Buddy Daddies

Overview

Buddy Daddies pairs two very different professional assassins, the easygoing Kazuki Kurusu and the cool-headed Rei Suwa, and then upends their work-first lives with an unexpected charge: four-year-old Miri Unasaka. A Christmas job goes sideways and leaves the pair looking after Miri, so missions, stakeouts and clean getaways suddenly have to share space with daycare drop-offs, home-cooked meals and bedtime stories.

What makes the series work is the contrast at its heart. The action stays sharp and the banter between Kazuki and Rei stays quick, but the show’s real warmth comes from watching two people who are brilliant at their dangerous job slowly learn how to be a family. Across its single season, the trio’s bond grows from an accident of circumstance into something neither assassin expected to want.
