Overlord

Overview

In the year 2138, the beloved virtual-reality game Yggdrasil is about to shut down for good. Its most devoted player, Momonga, stays logged in until the final moment — only to discover that he has not logged out at all. Trapped in the body of his skeletal avatar, the overlord Ains Ooal Gown, he finds that the game’s world has become real, and its non-player characters now think and feel for themselves.

Based on the light novels by Kugane Maruyama and animated by Madhouse, Overlord follows Ains as he turns the Great Tomb of Nazarick into the seat of a rising kingdom, commanding fiercely loyal guardians such as Albedo, Shalltear and Demiurge. Across four seasons, the series blends dark fantasy strategy with deadpan comedy, as the most powerful being in the world tries to conquer a world he barely understands.
