Overview
Sensei is a melancholic writer from the early twentieth century who longs for nothing more than a quiet place to end his life. Instead, after a failed double suicide attempt, he is whisked away to a fantasy world, where he is handed the last thing he wants: the role of a hero. Joined by companions such as Annette, Tama and Nir, he stumbles from one adventure to the next, his gloomy plans constantly interrupted by people who need saving.
Based on the manga of the same name, No Longer Allowed in Another World turns the usual isekai fantasy on its head. Rather than celebrating its hero’s new powers, the 2024 anime mines comedy from his reluctance, as every attempt to bow out gracefully is thwarted by inconvenient heroics. Across its single 12-episode season, the show pairs fantasy quests with a wry, melancholic charm that sets it apart from more earnest takes on the genre.
