Yuri!!! on Ice

Overview

Yuri!!! on Ice follows Yuuri Katsuki, a talented Japanese figure skater whose confidence collapses after a crushing defeat at the Grand Prix Final. Back home in Hasetsu and thinking about retirement, he is given an unexpected second chance when Victor Nikiforov, a five-time world champion, arrives to become his coach. At the same time, Yuri Plisetsky, a fiercely ambitious fifteen-year-old Russian skater, pushes Yuuri to prove himself all over again.

What makes the series stand out is how it treats skating as storytelling. Each program reveals something about the skater performing it, from nerves and pride to affection and self-belief, and the rivalry between its three leads stays warm rather than bitter. It is a sports drama about starting again when everyone, including yourself, expects you to be finished.
