Overview
ZENSHU follows Natsuko Hirose, a young animator who rockets from high-school graduate to celebrated director when her debut anime becomes a runaway hit. Her next assignment is a romantic comedy film about first love — a feeling she has never experienced herself. Stuck on the storyboard and exhausted from overwork, she collapses at her desk and wakes up inside the world of her favorite childhood anime film, “A Tale of Perishing.” There, her animator’s skills become literal magic: whatever she draws can change the story around her, and the characters she grew up loving suddenly need her help to escape the tragic ending written for them.
What makes ZENSHU stand out is how it turns the craft of animation into the adventure itself. Natsuko does not just visit another world; she redraws it, frame by frame, while learning the one thing she could never storyboard from the outside — what falling in love actually feels like.
